Thermal Conductivity of Insulating Powder

AEC-HTL-014

An apparatus to measure thermal conductivity of granular and powder insulating materials using a guarded hot plate.

#InsulatingPowder#ThermalConductivity#GranularInsulation#RefractoryMaterial
Calibration cert included 48-hr quote

Overview

The Thermal Conductivity of Insulating Powder apparatus employs a concentric sphere or guarded hot plate method to determine the thermal conductivity of loose, granular, or powder insulating materials. The powdered sample fills the annular space between a heated inner sphere and a cooled outer sphere (or between plates), and steady-state temperature difference and heat input are recorded. The experiment provides insight into how powder density, particle size, and moisture content affect insulation performance. It is relevant to the selection of refractory linings, building insulation, and industrial pipe lagging materials.
