Heat Transfer in Forced Convection

AEC-HTL-019

An apparatus to study convective heat transfer from a heated tube surface under forced air flow conditions.

#ForcedConvection#NusseltNumber#ReynoldsNumber#ConvectiveHeatTransfer
Calibration cert included 48-hr quote

Overview

The Heat Transfer in Forced Convection apparatus investigates the relationship between flow velocity and convective heat transfer coefficient for air flowing over or through a heated tube or duct. A blower provides controlled air flow over an electrically heated surface, and temperature profiles and heat flux are measured at different flow rates. Students determine the Nusselt number as a function of Reynolds and Prandtl numbers, validating well-established correlations such as the Dittus-Boelter equation. The experiment reinforces understanding of boundary layer development and its influence on convective heat transfer in heat exchangers and industrial ducts.
