Overview
The Double Effect Evaporator apparatus demonstrates how steam economy is improved by using the vapour generated in the first evaporator body as the heating medium for the second body operating at a lower pressure and temperature. Feed liquid passes through two stages of evaporation, progressively concentrating with each effect. Students analyse temperature and concentration profiles in each effect, calculate overall steam economy and evaporation capacity, and compare performance with single-effect operation. The unit provides insight into multi-effect evaporation systems used in industrial chemical, food, and desalination plants.
