Overview
This advanced computerised engine test rig features a Variable Compression Ratio (VCR) single cylinder 4-stroke diesel engine with open ECU and EGR control. The tilting cylinder block mechanism allows continuous adjustment of compression ratio without stopping the engine, enabling study of its direct effect on performance, emissions, and combustion characteristics. The integrated data acquisition system captures P-V diagrams, indicated mean effective pressure, thermal efficiency, fuel consumption, and exhaust emissions at each compression ratio setting. This rig is uniquely suited for advanced research in engine optimisation, combustion analysis, and low-emission diesel engine development.
