Overview
The Gas and Smoke Analyser is a portable instrument used to measure exhaust gas composition from both petrol (gasoline) and diesel engines. For petrol engines it measures CO, CO2, HC, O2, and NOx concentrations using electrochemical and NDIR sensors, while for diesel engines it measures smoke opacity using an opacimeter. The analyser connects directly to the exhaust pipe and displays results on a built-in screen with data logging to PC. It is used alongside engine test rigs to evaluate emission compliance, assess combustion efficiency, and study the effect of engine tuning, EGR, and fuel type on exhaust pollutants.
