Overview
The Solid-Liquid Extraction Bonotto Type apparatus simulates continuous counter-current leaching of soluble components from solid particles using a solvent. The Bonotto extractor features a vertical column with rotating discs or agitators that transport the solid phase upward while solvent flows downward, achieving continuous counter-current contact. Students determine extraction efficiency, solute recovery, and solvent-to-feed ratios under different operating conditions. The apparatus is relevant to oilseed extraction, sugar production, herbal extraction, and pharmaceutical leaching processes.
