Study of P/I & I/P Converter
A trainer for studying the operation and calibration of pneumatic-to-current and current-to-pneumatic signal converters.
Overview
The P/I (Pneumatic to Current) and I/P (Current to Pneumatic) Converter trainer allows students to understand the conversion of instrument signals between pneumatic (3 to 15 psi) and electrical (4 to 20 mA) standards used in process control systems. Each converter is calibrated and tested for linearity, zero, and span errors. Students calibrate the converters, plot output vs. input characteristic curves, and identify non-linearity and hysteresis. The trainer demonstrates how these converters interface pneumatic field instruments with electronic controllers in modern distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
