Overview
The Level Measurement by Capacitance Method apparatus demonstrates the principle of capacitance-based level sensing where a probe inserted into a tank acts as one plate of a capacitor and the tank wall or a reference electrode acts as the other. As liquid level rises, the dielectric constant between the electrodes changes, altering the capacitance proportionally to the level. Students calibrate the capacitance transmitter, study its response to conducting and non-conducting liquids, and compare output with actual level. The experiment highlights the advantages and limitations of capacitance level sensing used in chemical reactors, storage tanks, and food processing equipment.
