Overview
The Dead Weight Pressure Gauge Tester is a primary standard for calibrating pressure gauges and transmitters. Precisely machined standard weights are placed on a vertical piston of known cross-sectional area, generating a known hydrostatic pressure in the hydraulic circuit. The gauge under test is compared against this primary standard pressure. Students calibrate pressure gauges, determine gauge error at each test point, and understand the principles of primary pressure standards. The dead weight tester is the most accurate method of pressure calibration, traceable to fundamental SI units of mass, length, and time, and is used in metrology labs and instrument calibration centres.
