Overview
The Pressure Control Trainer is a complete closed-loop control system for studying the feedback control of pressure in a pneumatic or hydraulic system. A compressor or pump builds pressure in a vessel, and a control valve regulates the pressure based on the error signal processed by a PID controller. The pressure transmitter provides the process variable (PV) signal. Students tune the PID controller, introduce set point changes and disturbances, and observe pressure transient response. The trainer covers the complete instrumentation loop: sensor, transmitter, controller, final control element, and process, which is the fundamental structure of any process control loop.
