Overview
The Level Control Trainer provides a hands-on platform for studying feedback control of liquid level in a process tank. An inlet control valve regulated by a PID controller maintains the liquid level at the desired set point despite variations in outlet flow (disturbances). A level transmitter provides continuous feedback of the actual level to the controller. Students perform set point tracking experiments, introduce load disturbances by changing the manual outlet valve, tune PID parameters, and observe the effects of proportional band, integral action, and derivative action on the level control loop performance. The trainer is representative of tank level control in chemical, water treatment, and petrochemical plants.
