Computerized Ice Plant Trainer
A computerised ice plant trainer with automated data logging for studying block ice production and energy analysis.
Overview
The Computerised Ice Plant Trainer automates the monitoring and control of the ice production process using a PC-based data acquisition system. All refrigerant circuit temperatures, pressures, brine temperatures, compressor power, and ice can temperatures are logged continuously, enabling detailed energy analysis and process optimisation studies. Students study pull-down time, energy consumption per kg of ice, brine refrigeration load, and the effect of compressor suction pressure on ice production rate. The computerised platform allows comparison of multiple ice production runs and identification of optimum operating conditions for minimum energy consumption.
