Overview
The Vapour Jet Refrigeration Trainer uses a high-velocity vapour jet (steam ejector) to entrain and compress low-pressure refrigerant vapour from the evaporator, simulating the compressor function in a conventional refrigeration system. It demonstrates how thermal energy (steam or hot water) can drive a refrigeration cycle without mechanical compression. Students study ejector efficiency, entrainment ratio, refrigerating effect, and COP as functions of motive steam pressure and evaporator temperature. The trainer highlights the practical application of vapour jet systems in solar cooling, industrial waste heat recovery, and large district cooling plants.
