Overview
The Static and Dynamic Balancing Demonstrator consists of a rotating shaft with adjustable eccentric masses at different angular positions and axial planes. Students first demonstrate the unbalanced vibration and then systematically add balance weights to eliminate static (single-plane) and dynamic (two-plane) imbalance, measuring residual vibration before and after balancing. The apparatus covers both graphical (force and couple polygon) and experimental methods of balancing. It develops understanding of why rotating machinery must be balanced to avoid vibration, bearing overloading, noise, and fatigue failure in engines, turbines, fans, and automotive wheels.
